Introducing Hover Labs

Lately, we’ve been talking a lot about Kolibri, a self balancing Stablecoin built on Tezos. Today, we’d like to take a step back and talk about the folks behind Kolibri and the ecosystem.

Luke Youngblood, and his company, Blockscale, are well known for the infrastructure support they provide to the validator community. Keefer Taylor, and company, Tessellated Geometry, run a validator on Tezos and have built a mobile SDK for working with the chain. The pair have collaborated to ship various Tezos infrastructure, notably Harbinger, but have never put a name on the entity. Expanding our happy collective, we’ve also added Ryan Sears — whose company Cali Dog Security has been focusing on building usable and beautiful products, albeit in the security space. He brings in a wealth of knowledge in security, engineering, and product design.

Despite our collective credentials, to date, we have never given a formal name to our effort. Today, we’d like to take the opportunity to officially debut the entity behind Kolibri, Hover Labs. Hover Labs is led by Keefer and Ryan, with Luke joining as an early advisor. Hover Labs is a creator of decentralized products, infrastructure and services, the first of which is the Kolibri Stablecoin.

We hope you’ll join Hover Labs on your platform of choice, whether that is Twitter, Discord, Medium or GitHub.

The members of Hover Labs often talk about DeFi as a set of interoperable building blocks. We’ve collaborated in the past to build Harbinger, a distributed price oracle system. Hover Labs’ first product is Kolibri, a decentralized, self balancing algorithmic Stablecoin.

Hover Labs not only gives a name to the entity behind Kolibri, but it also signifies the founders’ interest to continue tinkering with, building and shipping products higher in the stack. We intend for future products and services to be additive, interoperable and expect that they’ll strengthen the value proposition of existing Hover Labs products.

In the short term, Hover Labs’ primary focus remains on Kolibri. Over the last week, we have launched a steady stream of improvements to our interface based on user feedback we’ve received. In our Discord, we’ve launched a governance process for testnet and we’ve executed the first proposal. Our security review continues to move forward. We hope to be back with further updates very soon, but in the meantime we’d love it if you gave the testnet a spin and joined us over in our Discord.

In the meantime, if you’re interested in working with Hover Labs or Kolibri, please give us a shout.
